After being bullied by her peers about her weight, she finds herself alone. When she is sheltered in the outcast tent on her class trip, her classmate Geraldine also gets cast out. As they spend time together the two girls form a bond and Jane finds herself caring less about what the other girls have to say. Later, we find out that her body image is affected by her mom’s poor body image. Luckily, none of that matters to her, when she truly connects with someone, Geraldine.
