Activities for Kids: Early Childhood
Programs for Early Learning
Help young learners develop positive feelings about food & eating!
Little Food Explorers
FREE resource for Early Childhood Educators.
The Little Food Explorers program offers a fun, structured approach for educators to engage children in learning about food. Each of the 4 food exploration activities begins by introducing a food, provides a tasting opportunity, and is completed by sharing your experience with families, so the exploration can continue at home. The foods and recipes included were chosen because they represent a variety of foods, are affordable, widely available in Manitoba, and are simple to prepare: Apples, Beans, Milk, Oats.
Program Includes:
- Program manual for educators (one per child care program)
- Picture books (4): Apples, Beans, Milk, Oats
- Recipes (4 included in manual):
- Apples – cinnamon apples
- Beans – bean dip
- Milk – vanilla milk
- Oats – pumpkin muffin bar
- Family sets (resources to send home), including:
- Parent permission card
- Positive mealtimes handout
- Recipe cards
(Family sets can be re-order as needed, at no cost. In the order form below, indicate how many families are in your program.)
